How I help:
I have been the executive director of Pawnee since 2006. Before that I was the Deputy Director.

My specialties:
I got my start in geriatric social work. I also did work in the areas of sexual assault/domestic violence, homelessness and hospital social work.

I studied family systems theory while working on my master’s in social work. My first job after graduate school was at Pawnee as a therapist working with a general adult population. I also worked with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses.

I left Pawnee after five years and worked eight years for Catholic Charities, Diocese of Wichita. While there I directed the crisis pregnancy counseling, infant adoption, special needs adoption, school counseling, substance abuse prevention, education, and counseling and mental health counseling programs. I worked in managed behavioral health care for two years.

More about me:
When I’m not doing mental health “stuff,” I’m doing international student “stuff.” I have been involved with the Manhattan Helping International Students (HIS) Program since I was a sophomore in college. In addition, my family and I have hosted seven and I have been a liaison for nine high school exchange students through AFS. One of our own children is currently an international graduate student at the University of Bergen in Norway.

Diane Hinrichs-Toburen is the Director of Marketing and Development at Pawnee Mental Health. She has been a part of the Pawnee team since 2018 and in her current role, is responsible for overseeing Pawnee’s marketing strategies and brand awareness. In addition, she is also responsible for raising philanthropic donations and identifying and applying for charitable grants. Diane holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Development, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Student Development, all from Kansas State University. Before joining the Pawnee team, Diane spent 6 years as the Director of Highland Community College Wamego Campus and worked 15 years at the Kansas State University Foundation.
